1. Introduce yourself….

Easy! my names Gavs and i'm from one small ass city (compared to Canada!) called London. Its F*ckin freezin too – (am I allowed to swear Nebs?)

2. When did you first decide to become a graphic designer/illustrator? Was there a pivotal moment?

I remember when I used to draw all over my walls at home as a 3 year old...A4 sheets of paper, my Dads birth certificate and £20 notes just wasn’t good enough 4 me! (not that I knew what £20 was back then...) Since then I’ve drawn all of my life but it took a turn when I came runner up in a Marvel comics Uk competition as a 9-year old. I was invited to their studios and it made me realise that I loved it (the art) so much and that’s all I’ve wanted to do.

3. Who or what inspires you?

Photography, Fashion, Culture, Females (not in a derogatory way though, its just that drawin guys is a bit long – no curves!) then last but not least, my emotions. Thats what keeps me bein creative.

4. Where does your training come from? Self-taught? College/Art School?

I did go to art school, I felt that It was useful because I learnt new things, but I still consider myself self-taught.

5. How do you keep "fresh" within your industry?

By trying my best to improve all of the time – and not being afraid to be “different”. Its a lot harder now because everyone and their dog has a mac and photoshop. But I avoid all of that “filter”garbage and keep it simple lol

6. Are there any areas, techniques, mediums, projects in your field that you have yet to try?

I wanna have something i’ve done transferred onto a wall of a niteclub or somethin in the future, but I also gotta start doin graff again soon ‘cos id be so different to when I used to do it. The feds wouldn’t be able to catch me haha!

7. Anything else you would like to add/let people know about you?

I can see with my eyes closed lol

Why did you first get into DJing?

I STARTED OFFICIALLY ABOUT OCTOBER OF 06.. BUT ITS BEEN A ITCH IVE BEEN WANTING TO SCRATCH SINCE I WAS LITTLE (NO PUN INTENDED) I ALWAYS WANTED TURNTABLES.. I WAS SO AMAZED BY THEM.. BUT EVERYTIME MY PARENTS WERE ABOUT TO GET EM FOR ME.. I WOULD GET IN TROUBLE OR FUCK UP IN SCHOOL. AND IT NEVER WENT DOWN..

How long have you been a DJ?

IN MY MIND.. MY WHOLE LIFE. BUT TECHNICALLY ABOUT 2 YEARS

What's your favorite track that you like to play?

D-TRAIN: YOUR THE ONE FOR ME... (THAT SHIT IS THE EPITOME OF A JAM)

When you are up there do you have a play list or do you read the crowd?

IM IN MY OWN LITTLE WORLD.. I REALLY COULDNT TELL YOU.. I TRY TO CONTROL THE WHOLE PLACE... I WANT TO MAKE THE SECURITY DANCE.. NOT JUST THE DANCE FLOOR.. THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT.. I WANT PEOPLE TO MEET THEIR HUSBANDS OR WIVES THAT NIGHT, OR COMPLETELY FORGET ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE FACT I JUST PLAYED A SONG THEY HAVENT HEARD IN YEARS..

Best DJ experience?

HMM.. I DONT KNOW.. I THINK I WAS IN L.A AND DID A PARTY WHERE NOONE WAS DANCING.. THE DJS WERE PLAYING HARD ASS RAP SHIT...THE GIRLS WERE LEAVING. AND I SAID FUCK IT.. I STARTED PLAYIN OBSCURE PRINCE RECORDS AND LIKE EVELYN CHAMPAGNE KING.. AND NIGGAS WENT CRAZY.

Future plans?

TO EVENTUALLY BE THE COOLEST PERSON ALIVE.. ALSO I WANT TO HAVE ENOUGH STAY AT HOME TIME TO GET A DOG.. BUT I DONT SEE IT HAPPENING ANYTIME SOON..

When did you start producing your own tracks?

LIKE 15.. IVE PLAYED THE DRUMS MY WHOLE LIFE.. BUT I ALWAYS WANTED TO MAKE MY OWN MUSIC. ITS ALL I THINK ABOUT.. STILL TODAY THIS DAY .. GIVEN THE FACT IM LIVING MY DREAMS OUT.. I STILL THINK ABOUT .. LIKE I DID WHEN I WAS A SHORTY

When you are not DJing, what do you like to do?

I MAKE BEATS.. AND VISA VERSA.. I NEVER LIKED ANYTHING AS MUCH AS I LIKE MAKING AND PLAYING MUSIC.. THE SHIT REALLY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND'

Well hello there fellow bloggers!

I'm in a real good mood today even though i shouldnt be... my day started off kinda off, woke up late but still made it to marketing class. I was sooooooo hungry (like always) reached in my Gucci bag (lol) to get my LV wallet (lol) then realized i left it at home which = no food for me *sigh*

my sweet friend Calvin offered to get me breakfast and i could pay him back but i said NOOOoope then he made fun of the fact that i never take anything from anyone and how i was built around the great wall of china lol 'whatever' he was reffering to the fact that i never let anyone get close (true) but awwwwwwwwww wells i still luv him.

so Calvin me and my new buddy neillio are going to our ACA class to take our computer test, Calvin got it all planned out to bribe our young teacher that rocks sick dunks; with food to help us with our test...before getting into class we all get really hungry and of course im still denying the free money lol so 45 minutes later they leave me to get food

i go in to take my super hard test and i get an 85% WOOHOOO.

blackberry goes off i have a dentist appointment at 2pm which i totally forgot about...I'm thinking about canceling...to call or not to call?

well since its 1:30 pm it would be rude to call 30 minutes before the appointment

i rush home to get food and my wallet then speed all the way to young and Sheppard to see Dr. Babel my good looking Moroccan dentist to be greeted by his secretary who is looking at me like i got 5 heads, so i give her the "Wat's ur problem" look, she says Dentist is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally sick and they called everyone xpt for me >:/ wtf

anyway before i flip out on her i do a quick wooo saaaaah and get the fuk out of there she still apologizing i slam the door and bounce

oh i am soooooo telling the Dr. on her ass when he gets back in the office but my plan is to NOT go on Thurs. and not callcuz well im gonna forget to on purpose. =)

on my way home i stopped at Xtreme fitness and got a membership, just cuz its close and mucho convenient. let the sweating begin

What do you see in the stores that you think is really great?

*Well Supra is killing the shoe game right now. They have been consistently dropping sneakers that appeal to me. I like the whole style of the shoes they make.



Where do you get your ideas from?

* I draw inspiration from any and everything, from music to electronics. I have a wild imagination and sometimes I just let it run wild and write down all the idea that come to me. A lot of Ideas come when Im on the train.



If you had a choice of all designers in the world, who would you prefer to work with? Why?

* I would have to say Jeremy Scott. I like his style and how he takes chances. He puts things on the runway that most would never expect to see there. His style of design is very innovative and it would be dope to work with him.

What are your short term and long term design goals?

*Short term is to keep coming up with innovative styles season after season. Keep striving to get better and being the best designer I can be, to keep the fans satisfied. Long term would be open up a few flagship stores, and just keep progressing to I reach the pinnacle of where my designs can take me and the line.



What makes PopularPhasion hot hot?

*The fans of the line is what makes it hot. The people that buy popular are those that understand what it means to be different and to be unique. The more people that get into the line, I believe that the "hotter" it will be. I really design for the love of it. I want to thank the fans for bringing the line as far as its came.

Q: How long have you been in the business of photography?

For about 7mnths now

Q: What initially interested you into photography?

When my father past away he left me his Canon EOS 650 camera and I thought it would be very interesting to finish what he never finished.

Q: What would you say is more important Good Knowledge/Good Equipment?

Most defiantly GOOD KNOWLEDGE if you don't have the knowledge to work the equipment they you wont be able to even operate it from the get go.

Q: Which photographer do you look up to and why?

Thomas Rusch's work has caught my eye for right now he's a fine art photographer who shoots for GQ, Esquire, Surface, and Tank. His style is very clean but yet very abstract .

Q: What genera of photography are you most interested in?

I was really into Landscaping but, right now i would have to say portraits are my favorites, imm kinda branching off into other kinds and forms of photography from Polaroids to even using expired film

Q: If you could work along side any one photographer who would it be?

My best friend Cordell he and I collab on alot of pieces and are work turns out alot betta when two artist wrk on the same piece

Q: What genre of photography do you dislike the most and why?

uuuh i dnt like that portrait style photography with the cheesiie backgrounds those are lame
