"Black Face"

This is something that has been getting a lot of attention on the news lately.

White people painting their face/body black on halloween.

I'm not sure how I really feel about this whole thing. I'm not sure if it's being taken as a big deal. I look at it the same way i look at who can use the "N word". Yes, it's halloween dress however the fuk u wanna dress but one thing i do not agree with tho is when a person just puts black shit all over their body hold a racket look NOTHING like serena and say that's what they are supposed to be on halloween, that's just fucked up

BUT

what if a black dude painted himself white on halloween? would people be losing their shit on the news??

Signing off,
Nebula

Firstly, not that there's anything wrong with cheerleaders, but that's not exactly the image you want a little girl looking up too right? Like really how would you react if your 5 year old girl started rolling up her shirt, shaking her ass and saying when I grow up I wanna be a football cheerleader...?

I don't think it's a big deal, she was dressed as lil'wayne. It's not like she was trying to be a ghetto hoodrat from compton or something (yes I know hoodrats come in all colours lol), I can see how that would have been questionable lol.

As both Neb and someone in the clip said the reverse wouldnt be questioned. We all laughed our asses off when Dave Chappelle did it didn't we?

well since she's dressing up as a specific black person i.e. lil wayne, then i'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. My advice is to avoid shit like this to begin with. I mean i dont see any humour in dressing up in white face. *shrugs* as for the n'word that's one thing i make no bones about. I hate it, no matter what the context, it makes me cringe. There waaaay too much history behind it for me to ever look at it as just another word. So black, white brown purple, the rule is the same: dont use it as a term of endearment or whatever towards me b/c i dont view it as such and never will.

I dont understand why and how you'll occasionally throw the "nigga" word around and your not even black...what a hypocrite

I hope that wasn't directed towards me because if it is you should do your research to find out what i am/who i am. Jumping to conclusions like that is NEVER pretty.

Your right.. a black guy dressing white wouldn't get much attention... however it's still corny as hell... cultural appropriation isn't politically correct...and doing it in the public eye will definetly get merit you some critics.. and many people don't mean harm by it, they just aren't exactly educated on the problems with it. I agree with anonymous up there... its usually best to avoid doin it....you just never know who you may be offending dressing up like lil wayne or pochahauntus
