clap for' em - Geoff Canada
It's always refreshing to meet or learn about someone who is extremely passionate about their work - 10 years ago Geoff Canada implemented his own solution to the educational gap that was constant in Harlem,NY. He invested his own capital to build the Harlem Children's Zone - The goal was simple; increase the college graduation amongst the poverty stricken students in Harlem. The corner stone of Geoff Canada's private school system is a promise to parents that once enrolled your son/daughter will not only attend but graduate from college. This private school system operates under a "cradle to college" structure which educates and provides continuous support for students from kindergarden through college. The program has been described as "one of the biggest social experiments of our time" and much as i've tried to convey how revolutionary this program is im sure i've failed by Mr. Canada's standards, so please check out this interview featuring Geoff Canada (via:60minutes)

Fake it till you make it
A friend of mine and I were discussing my obsession with everything “diverse” when it comes to sex and we started to talk about “squirting” and how I was so astounded with it. He mentioned how he once was responsible for this one girl squirting and he thought it was the nastiest shit ever. He went on to declare “I thought she pissed on me, my dick went limp right after that shit” LMAO
I know to each his own and not everybody is warmhearted about everything “different” but what astonished me the most was when he added “… I had to fake it after that”

I don’t know about you but I thought that shit was side-splitting who knew men faked it!?
Being the type of lady who has probably faked it 89% of the time, this news was mind-boggling to me.

Slow Jams Season
I had a convo with a friend last night and he asked me who are the top 3 i'm listening to right now. It was hard for me to answer that question but i told him that my taste in music changes as the season does... he found that hilarious but I was so for real, right now all i'm listening to is R&B.
Given that i'm surrounded by some intelligent talented folks I get put on to new music ALL THE TIME and i luuuuh that. I was introduced to the new albums of: R Kelly (who would of thought!) Robin Thicke, Ryan Leslie and Trey Songz.
The top 3 songs that are on repeat right now are: (in no specific order)

"Exit"- R Kelly
"Gibberish"- Ryan Leslie
What slow jams do you have on repeat cuz it hasn't snowed yet so I'm in need of more material to work with here.
Nebby loves it when the weather is cold, the music is slow and the food is hot.

Complex: When people think of Nicki Minaj they envision stilettos, bustiers, and maybe a lollipop…
Nicki Minaj: This is the thing: I like being sexy when it’s time to do a show, but to be honest, I hate wearing high heels, and I hate wearing anything tight. People do get taken aback when they see me in person because I’m in the jeans and the little slippers. I think it’s cute when they see me transform, they see me go into my machine and come out as Nicki Minaj.
Complex: How do you transform for that special someone?
Nicki Minaj: Thigh-high boots or some real crazy pumps, some thongs, and curly hair, that’s it. [Laughs.] Nothing else—nothing less, nothing more.
Complex: What is it about curly hair that makes you feel sexy?
Nicki Minaj: I feel like I’m a girl. The curly hair gives the impression that like, “Oh, I’m well-behaved,” but I take the trench coat off and boom! It doesn’t have to be too curly; it just looks like I did my hair.
Complex: So is romancing and seduction part of your repertoire when it comes to the bedroom?
Nicki Minaj: I don’t like romancing and I don’t like seduction. It’s corny to me. I like role-playing, but that’s not one of my characters. [Laughs.]
Complex: With all the touring you’ve been doing, do you have time for a boyfriend?
Nicki Minaj: I have no dating life, I can only hope and wish and imagine and fantasize. They demand too much. In life there’s always going to be one thing that takes precedence, and when you’re as hungry as I am you have tunnel vision. So I can’t really cater to a dude right now—I love them and I think they’re cute, but I can’t do what they want me to do for them right now.
Complex: Sounds like you need a vacation.
Nicki Minaj: I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. I really want to go there and just lay on the beach. Then, also, I could have the other rap girls feed me fruit—since they don’t have anything to do right now! [Laughs.] Strawberries, grapes, watermelon, and pineapple. I so know that part is going to make the interview.

An email I received at work:
"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down. First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by. Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."

Marrakech Tent, which was a small cafe/restaurant about a month ago was viewed and snatched up by my mother. She had more in mind for the restaurant than what it already had going on, she took it upon herself to renovate and re-launch the whole project. She's in charge of the cooking and also training a couple of ladies to help in the kitchen. Words can't even describe how proud I am of her. This is just the beginning.
For some great authentic Moroccan food in Toronto, come check out Marrakech Tent. It's a cozy little restaurant right off of Danforth and Greenwood. The service is amazing, the food is delicious and definitely affordable $$
